talk@camerafit.comDo we supply items not listed in website? Apr. 23, 2006. Recently we have been asked about some items that were not listed in our site. Certainly, we can supply these items providing that such items are available in Hong Kong. The ordering process is the same. We shall notify if such arrangement would need extra time. This is our usual practice to let customers know before ordering. It is good to ask. Apr. 12, 2006. For the past months, some customers have asked some questions that worth to mention here. Can they trust our site? Of course, our site is operated with the best we can to avoid any problems, not to say any tricks. But we do believe that due to many fraud cases, online customers must be careful. One can check ABOUT US to get information about our site, our company and our owner. Of course, as one customer said he had been "a bit skeptical" in the beginning and after ordering from us, "But you guys have indeed won me over" is his comment. It is certain that we can revamp our webpages. However, we believe that customers for camera accessories are not like other consumers. Any order must be based on actual need and clear answers to their questions instead of emotion. Next is about the products. Our sources are official distributors. Certainly, there is no permanent agreement in business and some manufacturers may change distributors. If such case happens, we shall decide whether it is good to keep such products in our site if we still have supplies one way or the other. However, we always give true answers to customers. Online business is not a short-term development for us. Therefore, we are always keeping the same policy and intention of building a friendly site for all photographers. Why we choose Paypal for payment? Dec. 30, 2005. A few customers have asked about using their credit cards to pay, but we told them to use Paypal instead. Just use the email address and credit card data for Paypal to activate the payment, it is simple and cost nothing to the customers. We shall be charged by Paypal, yet the cost is much less than any other method. Every customer know that any cost to a supplier would be included in the price. That is the major reason of choosing Paypal. In fact, from the incidence in 2005, it is difficult to protect clients' sensitive information. Frankly speaking, we are lack of the confidence to handle such type of security. With members of hundreds millions, Paypal will have the best security and it is certain that Paypal would protect their data in the best way available. With this arrangement, the only customer data we have is the name, email and shipping addresses. These are sensitive data too. So we do not use any online database system and that means all such data will not be stored in the website. All orders are kept as temporary files and transferred to our office as soon as possible. Delivery by post only. Dec. 30, 2005. The choice of our delivery is based on the benefit for customers. We have decided to have two choices, UPS or Postal services. However, according to the operation for all orders, it seems that we have chosen Postal services only. From the feedback of customers, the delivery performance is satisfactory. Therefore, we may take Air Parcel Post as our standard way of delivery in the coming year. How to know the credibility of a website. Dec. 18, 2005. According to a recent survey, there are over two millions website with false registration data. Check: GAO finds 2.3M domain names registered with false data. We may not be able to find what are the reasons. But it is certain that we have to be careful about these sites, especially if we are going to buy anything from them. The simple way is to check: 1. From the domain name registrar, about the holder of that domain name. Go to http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jhtml and search the information. 2. A website usually has "About US" etc. to give visitors the information of the site owner or corporation. For example, in the front page of our site, there is a "About us" that link to a webpage showing the background etc. of our website. If you check our site, Camerafit.com, you will find: The domain name, Camerafit.com, is registered by the owner, F. H. Tong, who runs F. H. Tong's Studio. You can find the address and the "RECORD EXPIRES ON" which means that the domain name registration will be valid until that date. It is said recently that the registration period will be another factor to judge a website's behavior. There are other types of information too. But we all know that some of them might be created deliberately to misguide customers. What is tripod? Mar. 20, 2005 Camerafit It looks simple. Tripod is used for loading camera to take long exposure or self-portrait. Not at all, if we search 'TRIPOD' with Google, we get 81 results that are not related to the tripod we know for years. There are 7,488,555 results with MSN, 22,000,000 with Google, 26,700,000 with Yahoo and 6,355,009 with Lycos. http://www.tripod.lycos.com/ is the first one except Lycos. Perhaps, it started when the name tripod has been used by Lycos for something else. According to the introduction, "Tripod on Lycos, established in 1994, is one of the leading personal publishing communities on the Web. Tripod makes it easy for members to create...", so we can suppose that from 1994 till now, there are tripod everywhere. It is quite strange to find that the search in Google or MSN, the results were mostly those 'tripod' groups. But if we search in Lycos, the first four results were really photographic tripod. That means Lycos knows too well that the name tripod is photographic. Tripod has a long history in photography. Long time ago, most cameras were so big that without tripod, there was no way to take photos. Only the poor Englishman, William Henry Fox Talbot, failed to get sponsorship, had to make small box cameras. However, this is the argument about who invented photography, the Frenchman, Niepce Nicephore or the Englishman, William Henry Fox Talbot. But most would take the Frenchman. For us, a tripod is something needed occasionally. If we calculate the cost for every use, it may be the most costly accessories. Certainly, we would not blame anything. The tripod will be with us for a long time if it is of good quality. What is filter? Mar. 20, 2005 Camerafit This term has lots of meaning. Therefore, search engines will cover everything that called filter. With MSN there are 43,243,595 results, with Google 77,400,000, with Yahoo 57,500,000 and with Lycos 17,820,009. Anything that can filter out something is called a filter. So we have the filter to filter liquid; the filter to filter SPAM; the filter to filter some light; the filter to filter some code in digital imaging. Perhaps one day we shall have a filter to filter out the terrorists. We needed a lot of filters in the old days because the films at that time were not able to deal with color temperature difference. From the Gold film of Kodak, it is not necessary to use color compensating filter for negative. Now in digital imaging, color temperature difference can be handled by the digital camera or the software. A few filters remain in use for some; especially those still prefer films. |
